New Moon in Capricorn
We have reached the final New Moon of 2024, and this is a time to both reflect on the year that has passed and consider what lies ahead. This Earthy New Moon, known for its hard work and pragmatism, is ruled by Saturn in Pisces which calls for a dash of divine inspiration and imaginative creativity. If you have a vision for your life that you would like to manifest, the earthy Capricorn energy can be a great ally for bringing ideas to reality. However- as much as I would love to say this is a time for magical manifestation, it isn't…and Saturn doesn’t bring instant gratification. It does honor patience and hard work though.
Saturn requires hard work rooted in patience and determination.
A teacher of endurance, not easily swayed from the path, this can lead to mastery in one’s chosen path over time….but it takes time, commitment, and dedication.
This is a time for mature, grounded spirituality founded on integrity and discipline. Set intentions that honor your highest dreams while also acknowledging the need for realistic, tangible steps. Remember, even the most practical goals can be infused with spiritual purpose.
Slow and Steady is the Fastest Way….
As the lunar cycle begins, the Capricorn need for productivity and tangible results is thwarted by the mutable T-square in the sky, as well as the Mars Retrograde.
The first of 3 Jupiter-Saturn squares took place in mid-August 2024. The second Jupiter-Saturn Square took place just a few days ago on December 24 2024 and we are still feeling the energy of it. The final Jupiter-Saturn square will take place next year on June 15 2025 when Jupiter reaches 1-Cancer and Saturn reaches 1-Aries. The tension between these two planets can create a feeling of wanting to grow but feeling restrained, big challenges with authority figures that demand time or restrict of freedom in some way, holding back for a better opportunity, or biding your time for the right moment to reveal what you’ve been quietly building behind the scenes.
With Mercury involved in the current T-square, there is a call to take personal responsibility for communication style. This is a time to take accountability for stories told to self and others, and for the path chosen, obstacles included. To avoid getting lost in wishful thinking, or creating a lot of false starts, the pragmatic realism of this New Moon offers a pause to consider the following:
Real World, Real Time, Real Money:
The actual resources available to meet the highest unmet needs in the present moment
Natural consequences and cause-effect outcomes that operate regardless of wishes or beliefs
The need to work within existing systems and constraints while pursuing goals
The importance of taking actionable steps rooted in reality rather than fantasizing or theorizing how it could/should be
As with all Saturnian experiences, this is a consequential time that can bring the rewards of hardwork and commitment, rooted in an ability to endure tough situations. Or having to accept certain challenges or hardships that result from making the choice to walk away from difficult circumstances. With this in mind, the fresh start of a new lunar cycle offers a beautiful opportunity to transform “karmic” lessons into spiritual wisdom, actually deepening our capacity for compassion and understanding. Hardships, vulnerabilities and even wounds can be doorways to deeper connection with others.
