Welcome to Libra Season

Welcome to Libra Season

September 22-October 23

The wheel turns, and with the Autumn Equinox, we step fully into Libra Season—a time when the sun's light is perfectly balanced between day and night, and we too, are called to seek relational harmony and a sense of fairness within ourselves and our connections.

Libra, an Air sign, thrives in the realm of logic, communication, and rational ideas. Through an intellectual yet considerate approach, Libra emerges as both a lover of truth and a passionate ally for justice. As the season shifts, so too does the elemental focus: we move from the practical, tactile ground of Earth into the swift-moving, intangible realm of Air.

Cardinal, Air, Yang

With the upward movement towards the sky, we fly with the winds and float with the clouds.

Among the four elements, Air is the most intangible, yet paradoxically, it is the only one that touches everything.

There is an omnipresence in Air—it surrounds us, moves through us, and connects us all through the simple act of breathing. When we become aware of the breath, we begin to notice it as part of an invisible, unified field of shared connection. This quiet presence reminds us that even the unseen can be deeply intimate and powerful.

This dual nature—being both intangible and yet touching everything—beautifully mirrors how Libra’s scales attempt to hold seemingly opposite energies in balance. As a yang sign, Libra has an outward-moving energy. It thrives in connection, expressing itself through a love of ideas, thoughts, language, and meaningful interaction.

Libra is also a cardinal sign, which means it’s capable of initiating action. But this action is thoughtful—guided by assessment, by a weighing of pros and cons, by a desire for fairness. This creates a kind of "inner-outer" attunement—action followed by rest, responsiveness followed by reflection.

Like the breath, Libra’s rhythm is one of giving and receiving. It flows in and out, always seeking a point of equilibrium. With the information they gather through observation and interaction, Libras know when to move, when to initiate, and when to pause.

Ruled by Venus

Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet traditionally associated with love, beauty, and pleasure. However, Venusian energy is far more than romantic love alone—it speaks to all forms of attraction, from the people who captivate us to the art, experiences, and sensations that make life feel rich, vibrant, and meaningful.

Through Venus, we come to understand our sensual values: what delights us, what soothes us, what brings us pleasure and peace. This energy touches everything from our fashion choices and personal style to the subtle aura we carry into our relationships and social spaces.

This is the Venusian touch—the invisible yet tangible force that helps us curate a sense of beauty and coherence in our lives.

The energy of Venus moves Libra to take on a distinctly relational and refined quality. It’s not just about pleasure—it’s about pleasure shared, beauty co-created, and the sweetness that exists in the space between people. The focus is on harmony, balance, and meaningful connection.

As the natural ruler of the 7th house, Libra is deeply connected to relationships, reflecting both harmony and friction between the self and others. As the sign of partnership, Libra invites individuals to see themselves through the eyes of those they are closest to—romantic partners, friends, or collaborators.

When we fall in love, we often do so because the other person mirrors something within us—our longing, our worth, our beauty. The connection feels magnetic in part because they are falling in love with us too, creating a feedback loop of mutual recognition and desire. We can't truly see ourselves without others because relationships act as mirrors, reflecting back parts of us we might otherwise miss or deny.

The Relational Mirror

The relational mirror is not about vanity, but about mutual recognition: how we project our desires, fears, and ideals onto others, and how they reflect back our hidden truths. Alone, our self-perception is limited—we know ourselves only from the inside, filtered through our thoughts, memories, and assumptions. But through connection, we encounter the impact we have, the ways we’re received, and the unconscious patterns we carry. Others trigger emotional responses, challenge our beliefs, and reveal hidden aspects of our identity.

"Every relationship is a mirror, reflecting the parts of ourselves we have yet to embrace. When we struggle with a partner, we are not merely reacting to their flaws—we are encountering our own unresolved emotions, our own hidden fears..

The faults we perceive in another often reveal the places within us that need healing. Instead of resistance, what if we chose awareness? Instead of judgment, what if we chose self-inquiry?

Deepak Chopra

Whether through love, conflict, admiration, or discomfort, relationships help surface the deeper layers of who we are. It’s often in the presence of another that we come to recognize our wounds, our strengths, and our capacity for growth. In this way, we don’t lose ourselves in others—we find ourselves through them. I recently saw a quote that said, “The conscious person uses the world as a mirror to better understand and master themselves. The unconscious person attacks the mirror because they do not realize that it is a mirror.”

The Pain of People Pleasing

My first born child has 5 planets in Libra, and raising them has been a breeze. They are one of the most cooperative people I have ever known. As a mother, it made life easier, but I have been a first hand witness to the challenges of Libra, most of which are internalized and unseen. The cooperation and peace within the relationship comes at the cost of incredible inner turmoil. The shadow aspects of Libra often manifest through people-pleasing, indecisiveness, and the tendency to lose oneself in an overly cooperative nature.

While Libra values balance and connection, this can devolve into a compulsive need to avoid conflict, leading to suppression of personal truth and authentic desire. So much so, that when asked what they want or need, they may not even be able to identify it.

In the fear of being disliked or causing disharmony, Libra may compromise too much, bending to the will of others and slowly eroding their own identity. Relationships can become mirrors not of mutual growth, but of self-neglect—where the Libra individual becomes who they think others want them to be.

This can also lead to indecisiveness as Sue Tompkins reminds us, “Constantly weighing things up can be paralysing to the decision making process, especially if this is coupled with being somewhat out of touch with the deeper realities of their feelings, and what they want on a deeper level.”

This shadow plays out in a subtle abandonment of self, where the need to be seen as likable or agreeable overrides the need to be real. Healing this shadow involves reclaiming one’s voice, setting boundaries, and learning that true balance can only exist when both sides of the scale are honored—including one’s own needs and truths.

Be Gentle With Yourselves and Each Other

During these challenging times where many of us don’t even recognize our country, reach for peace and understanding within your own heart and share it as much as you can with others. I will be away at a Breathwork Intensive the week of September 20-27, and look forward to reconnecting with everyone when I return.

Many Blessings,

Ally
