Welcome to Pisces Season
Welcome to Pisces Season
A Time for Intuition, Dreams, and Spiritual Surrender
As we leave the detached, logical bird’s-eye view of Aquarius, we enter into the imaginative, emotional waters of Pisces, a sign known for its sensitivity to even the subtlest nuances within its environment and beyond. As the final sign of the zodiac, Pisces invites us into a liminal space where boundaries blur, intuition heightens, and feelings become a form of knowing. This is a season of surrender rather than control, of listening to inner wisdom instead of seeking external answers. Dreams, creativity, empathy, and spiritual connection take center stage, gently reminding us that not everything meaningful can be explained. Some things are simply meant to be felt.
Mutable, Water, Yin
Water signs are fundamentally driven by emotion as their primary source of intelligence and motivation. Feelings shape how they process experiences, often allowing them to sense undercurrents, especially those that are left unsaid. Rather than responding solely to facts or logic, Water signs move through the world guided by what is felt in the body and heart, providing a sensitivity that fosters deep empathy, intuition, and emotional awareness.
As a Water sign, Pisces’ baseline energy is inherently yin in nature, emphasizing receptivity. Rather than pushing outward, Pisces draws the world inward, absorbing sensations, moods, and subtle energetic cues and translating them into a rich inner landscape of imagination, feelings, and intuitive insight.
As a mutable sign, Pisces’ inner world is fluid rather than fixed, continuously shifting in response to the external environment. Emotions, beliefs, and even identity itself may ebb and flow with changing energies. While this adaptability allows for creativity, it can also blur self-recognition, making discernment and boundaries especially important during this season.
Ruled By Jupiter
Pisces is traditionally ruled by Jupiter, the planet of growth, meaning, and expansion. Yet the Piscean Jupiter expresses itself very differently than the fiery, outward-reaching Jupiter of Sagittarius.
In Pisces, Jupiter becomes more emotional and mystical in tone. While it still embodies a deep trust in life’s unfolding, the sensitivity of the Piscean realm gives this noble and majestic planet a more subtle, inward expression.
In Sagittarius, a fire sign, Jupiter’s energy rises like a flame towards the heavens, transforming through faith and higher vision. In Pisces, that same expansive force turns inward, moving like water, finding its way to the deepest point in a landscape. Jupiter’s urge to grow and explore turns toward the inner realm of feelings and imagination, expanding consciousness through dreams, symbolism, and spiritual surrender.
Here, meaning is discovered by searching far and wide within yourself, to stretch beyond your comfort zone and evolve into greater versions of yourself. This boundless energy fuels an inner world, rich with intuition, wisdom and a profound belief that every experience, whether joyful or challenging, offers something valuable to learn.
When life is viewed through this wider lens of growth and possibility, every moment becomes part of a grand journey toward understanding and truth. The challenge, however, comes when this instinct to move forward becomes a form of avoidance or spiritual bypassing.
“I am circling around God,
around the ancient tower,
and I have been circling for
a thousand years,
and I still don’t know
if I am a falcon,
or a storm,
or a great song.”
Ruled by Neptune
In modern astrology, Pisces is ruled by Neptune. Neptune is the planet of dreams, mysticism, and transcendence, dissolving the boundaries between the visible and invisible worlds. This is the liminal place where the self merges with something greater, inviting profound spiritual connection and unity consciousness. This may be found through meditation, music, dance, and prayer, to name a few.
As the higher octave of Venus, Neptune draws us toward compassion, creativity, and surrender, experiences that remind us of the deep interconnectedness of life. Yet this realm can also carry glamour and illusion, where masks and subtle layers of camouflage obscure a person’s true identity and blur what is real.
In a more compromised expression, the sense of self may be unclear and confusing, however, in a healthy expression, there is a permeable receptivity and an awareness of connection to all life. Neptune can also indicate a place where we want to rescue or be rescued, whether that be by a person, or an experience. Escapism and transcendence become like two sides of the same coin in Neptune’s embrace.
Neptune carries the potential for illusion, deception, and confusion, requiring discernment as we navigate its waters. When clarity is obscured, like a misty fog blanketing the landscape, what appears true may simply be an honest description of a distorted perception. Under Neptune, certainty dissolves, and we are asked to trust intuition more than sight.
When expressed consciously, Neptune softens the ego’s grip and opens a doorway to something profound, ineffable. It offers inspiration and faith, guiding us beyond the physical realm. If you have ever touched something sacred through prayer, meditation, music, or dance, catching a glimpse beyond the self and the boundaries of the material world, you may have been receiving a blessing from this planetary guide.
Being Ruled by Both Jupiter & Neptune
Being ruled by both Jupiter and Neptune, Pisces carries a profound search for meaning—guided by moments of expansive inspiration and deep contact with something greater than the self. Their combined energy radiates a boundless quality, creating a permeability that allows them to intuit and perceive the world around them, as well as the vast inner landscapes within, often in ways that are difficult to put into words.
This sensitivity gives Pisces a remarkable capacity for compassion and wisdom, though it can also leave them feeling overwhelmed by the suffering of both self and others. Their quest for meaning is often rooted in an ambiguous longing to experience the purity of Spirit—a purity that is elusive, if not impossible, to fully encounter in the material world. Yet, despite this, they continue the search.
Longing and disappointment are constant companions in the Piscean journey, subtle and often unnamed, arising from the desire to merge with the Divine. This yearning is powerful and perpetually just out of reach, a tension that defines the human experience for Pisces. They may wonder, “What am I truly longing for? Will I even recognize it if I find it? And if I do, is there still more beyond that?”
This is the endless conundrum of the Piscean realm. The caution for Pisces is to remain mindful that the search for the Divine, or the magical expanses of their inner world, does not tip into escapism or addictive patterns. The true gift lies in embracing both the longing and the present moment, finding depth, compassion, and inspiration without losing touch with reality.
The Pisces Shadow- Enmeshment
“Boundaries are a pre-requisite for compassion and empathy. We can’t connect with someone unless we are clear about where we end and they begin. If there is no autonomy between people, then there’s no compassion or empathy, just enmeshment.”
With the strong influence of its rulers, Jupiter and Neptune, Pisces can absorb far more from their surroundings than they realize and may leave ordinary situations energetically affected by what they have taken in. After crowded spaces, intense conversations, or subtle tension in a room, they can feel drained, foggy, or heavy without understanding why. Their first instinct is to soothe, which can lead to overgiving or withdrawal, and a heavy reliance on coping mechanisms both healthy and unhealthy.
The shadow of Pisces appears when empathy loses grounding. Compassion turns into rescuing or self-sacrifice. This can lead to a search for relief from suffering, which can then lead to escapist behaviors and avoidance of reality. Idealization replaces clear perception and intuition blurs with projection. The lesson is to anchor sensitivity in discernment and honesty so relationships can grow without devolving into enmeshment.
Enmeshment occurs when emotional boundaries between people become so blurred that individuality is difficult to maintain. Feelings and needs intermingle, which can lead to a tendency to take on the energy of another person and to feel responsible for their moods or choices. The lines that clearly delineate self from other are so blurred that they no longer exist.
Without conscious boundaries, Pisces can lose clarity about who they are in relationship to others, making it essential to return consistently to their own center, something they may struggle to do.
The Pisces Gift- Compassion
The gift of Pisces lies in its ability to feel beyond the limits of the individual self. It carries an innate sensitivity that perceives emotional, spiritual, and energetic undercurrents others may miss, translating them into compassion, creativity, and deep understanding. This sign reminds us that kindness is not weakness, but a profound strength rooted in caring. Through Pisces we are invited to soften rigid boundaries, trust intuition over certainty, and access wisdom through dreams, art, and emotional truth. Its greatest offering is the reminder that healing often arises not from control, but from surrender and presence.
The Poet, The Artist, The Musician
The “urge to merge” that we find within the Pisces archetype can often be experienced through the arts- the way a musician flows into union with a song, the way a painter merges with the canvas, the way the poet channels language from an imaginal realm. Pisces embodies the archetype of the poet, the artist, and the musician—the channel through which emotion, imagination, and the ineffable find form. Rather than creating from intellect alone, Pisces creates from feeling, intuition, and resonance, giving voice to experiences that live beyond language. This sign has a natural ability to translate the unseen into sound, image, and metaphor, turning emotion into melody, grief into beauty, and longing into art. Pisces reminds us that art is not just self-expression, but communion, a way of dissolving separation and touching something universal through creativity.
Married to a Pisces Man
He is intuitive. He is kind. His central philosophy in life is rooted in compassion, kindness, and love. He truly has a heart of gold. I know I am a little biased, but I really did find an extraordinary partner.
While the sensitivity of Pisces can be a real thing, not every Pisces is an overly emotional daydreamer. My husband has a career in law that spans decades. He is organized, methodical, and grounded. He spends so much of his time replying to emails, carefully reviewing contracts and negotiating deals. But at night, once his workday ends, he becomes exactly what you might imagine a Pisces to be: a musician, a philosopher, and a mystic.
Adan has so much energy. He rarely complains (about anything). It is just not something he does. He is a big ball of positivity. Those of you who have met me at an Illuminate Festival, probably met Adan first. He is the hype man, the one who stands in front of my table, talking with everyone, sharing his charm and generosity. It just takes one conversation with him to realize that he has a genuine love of life and a kind heart.
Where We Met
The first time we met was in 2005 at a breathwork community in Baltimore called the Inspiration Community where we were both taking classes in Breathwork and the Enneagram. For many years ways, we orbited each other without really connecting. He was enrolled in one breathwork course while I was enrolled in another. I completed a teacher training at a local yoga studio a year before he did, the same training, just different cohorts. We were in the same spaces, learning the same things, but at different times.
Then something shifted. Around 2010 our timing finally aligned. We kept finding ourselves in the same places at the same moments, and a friendship formed naturally. Being together felt easy; we had so many experiences in common and shared many of the same philosophies. I would also be remiss not to mention that our Sun signs are beautifully compatible as fellow Water signs, and we are doubly blessed to share Sagittarius Moons. Loving someone comes easily when your emotional language is the same.
His Message- To Love and To Be Loved Is The Greatest Blessing
The best thing about my husband is his compassionate, wise, and loving heart. He often speaks of love as the unifying force behind all life. He even wrote a book called The Mystery of Love: A Heart-Based Re-Interpretation of the Tao Te Ching for Everyday Life. If you listen closely, you can hear his Pisces Sun shining through in the title alone.
He would rise early in the morning to the sounds of birds singing the world alive.
While the family slept, he slowly and steadily went page by page through the Tao Te Ching, meditating on each passage, and searching within his heart for The Way.
Like all things he does, his path was steady and true, built on a foundation of discipline and curiosity.
His pace never changed. It was an honest commitment to translate one verse each day until it was complete.
It took about a year for Adan to finish the book in its entirety so that he could offer it to the world.
Books are among his favorite things, and now he has one that he has written, more as a spiritual practice than anything else.
I have watched day after day, as he humbly and consistently, continues to grow and learn so that he can be a better, kinder, more loving person. He is such an inspiration. Music is also one of his favorite things, and anyone who knows him, knows what a gift it is to hear him sing and play his guitar. Every day he reminds me to look at the world with awe and wonder, and to remember that the most beautiful things must be felt with the heart, because they are all made possible by love.
The Consistency of the Sun
This week is filled with striking astrological events, from the Year of the Fire Horse to the solar eclipse. And still, I find myself returning to the steady rhythm of my Sun sign reflections. I’ve spent a long time discovering who I am as an astrologer. While I pay attention to current transits and the ways they shape our experiences, I always come back to center. That is also what I offer my clients. I will always encourage you to return to yourself again and again as the primary source of guidance and growth in your life.
Stay steady. Stay centered. Remember the inner light that remains constant and true.
Many blessings,
Ally
