Green Tara
Green Tara- This painting was born in February 2022, during which time I had a profound experience of deep communion with Green Tara, a goddess of fierce protection and compassionate liberation. I would spend hours in my studio listening to the mantra and painting. Rachel Wooten’s book, Tara: The Liberating Power of the Female Buddha was the primary source I used to inform my experience. Symbols, colors and themes from the praises and mantras of the 21 Taras are infused into the early layers of the painting. Green Tara was painted over the many layers of symbolism beneath. This painting is full of deep reverence and genuine, sincere contact with the Goddess.
